Week 24

Grade 8 - American History - REMNDER TO ALL STUDENTS - Due dates for Chapter 11 Summary assignment, worksheets and Andrew Jackson Notes are Thursday Feb. 16 for Period 5 and Friday Feb. 17 for Periods 1, 2, 3 and 8.

Days 1 and 2 - We will go over some assignments in class and start "How the west Was Won."

Day 3 - give each student a copy of the xerox assignment on the "Westward Movement and Transportation in America." Due dates will be Thursday Feb. 24 for periods 1,2,8 and 5 and Friday Feb. 25 for period 3.

Day 4 - Continue Day 3 work.

Grade 7 Religion

Day 1 - Lesson 20 is due. The students will take their Memory Verse Quiz.

Day 2 - Assign Lesson 21 "Dig Deeper" and Review Questions. Lesson 21 will be due Friday Feb. 17.

Week 23

Grade 8 - American History -Monday and Friday are both disrupted school days - Monday for inservice and Friday for the Choral Festival and the Life House Clara Barton trip. Some classes will meet twice this week and some will meet three times. We will be doing the following in class -View a DVD on Andrew Jackson, assign the notes on Jackson and the ten question "Write Your Own Quiz." The due dates for the quiz will be Monday Feb. 13 for periods 1, 2, 3 and 5 and Tuesday Feb. 14 for period 8. All students will receive the Chapter 11 summary and workbook pages and which will be due Thursday Feb. 16 for period 5 and Friday Feb. 17 for periods 1, 2, 3 and 8.

Grade 7 - Religion

Day 1- Lesson 19 will be due. Continue Ben Hur.

Day 2 - Assign Lesson 20 - due date will be Monday Feb. 13. There will be a memory verse quiz for Lesson 20.

Day 1 - Go over Chapter 6 assignment and assign map. All students need to have 50 3x5 cards, a glue stick and school scissors for their next class meeting. We will be making flash cards to study for their U.S. Map Test. The Test will be Monday Jan. 30 for Periods 1, 2, 3 and 5 and Tuesday Jan. 31 for Period 8. They should use pages 1130, 1131 and 1135 in their textbook to help them prepare for the Test.

Day 2 - Assign Map Packet and begin work on their flash cards.

Day 3 - Continue Maps and Flash Cards.

I am a day late for the blog. My apologies. I was gone Monday Dec. 12.

Grade 8 - American History

Day 1 - We will be working on Constitution lecture notes and an assignment. The lecture note assignment will be due the last class meeting of the week which will be Wed. Dec. 14 for period 3 and Thurs. Dec. 15 for periods 1, 2, 5 and 8.

Day 2 - Americana Christmas - AWestern Christmas story

Day 3- Continue Americana Chrstmas and the lecture note assignment is be due today.

Day 4 - Skate Party

THERE IS NO HOMEWORK OVER THE CHRISTMAS BREAK. However, after Christmas, every student will need 50 3x5 cards, a glue stick and school scissors. We will be beginning our American States and Capitals Unit.

Grade 7 Religion

Day 1- View a DVD on President Washington and continue working on the Constitution Study Guide. Chapter 6 will be due on Wed. Dec. 7 for Periods 3 and 5 and Thursday Dec. 8 for Periods 1, 2 and 8. The Test will be on the due dates. Every student has a study guide for the Test. They are to complete the study guide and bring it with them on the Test date. They may use the study guide to take the Test.

Day 2 - View the "Freedom of US" DVD on the Constitution and continue preparing for the Test.

Day 3 - Chapter 6 is due and we will take the Test today.

Day 2 - Assign the Study Guide for the Chapter 6 Test. Students may use their study guide to take the test.

Geade 8 - American History

Day 1 - Lecture Note Test on the American Revolution. Students will turn in their notes and study guide at the end of the period. Chapter 6 Summary will be assigned. The due dates fof the summary are as follows; Wed. Nov. 16 for periods 1, 3 and 5, Thurs. Nov. 17 for periods 2 and 8.

Day 2 - Assign the TXBK assignment for Chapter 6 - "Creating the United States"- Every student will receive a detailed xerox copy of the assignment. We will go over how the assignment should be done during this class period. Due dates are as follows; Wed. Dec. 7 for periods 3 and 5 and Thurs. Dec. 8 for periods 1, 2 and 8. There will be a Test on the due date. Students will have a study guide.

Day 1 - Chapter 5 TXBK and two xerox assignments are due. They will take the Chapter 5 Test using their Study Guide. Once they complete the test they will turn in their study guide. They will receive a review assignment for the lecture notes on the American Revolution. This will be due Monday Nov. 14 for periods 1, 2, 3 and 5 and Tuesday Nov. 15 for period 8. They will turn in their lecture notes on these due dates and take the Lecture Note Test using their review assignment.

Day 2 - Go over Chapter 5 materials and continue lecture notes on the American Revolution.

The Colonial World Test will be Wed. Oct 12 for Period 3 and Thurs. Oct. 13 for Periods 1, 2, 5, and 8. The Lecture Notes and the Study Guide will be due on the Test dates.

Week 5

This is ITBS Test Week - Everyone should try to get plenty of rest, get some exercise, eat a good breakfast and bring a healthy snack to eat at the mid -morning break.

Grade 8 - We are finishing "The Desperate Crossing of the Mayflower" this week and working on two atlas assignments, "European Stettlements in North America" and "Early Claims, Early Conflicts." We will also work on the Chapter 2 Review assignment. A reminder - Chapter 2 TXBK and Review Assignment will be due Monday Sept. 19 for periods 1, 2, 3 and 5 and Tuesday Sept. 20 for period 8. There will also be a Test on the due date. We only meet twice this week.

Grade 7 - We will be watching a film this week about a minister and his family and community. There are some questions to answer about the film. We only meet twice this week Monday and Thursday.

Friday is the Beach Trip. The permission slips are due Tuesday Sept. 13.

Day 2 - Begin "America Before Columbus" and an in-class assignment.

Day 3 - Continue "America Before Columbus."

Day 4- Atlas assignment - "A New World to the Europeans" and the TXBK Pages 36 and 37 - "Linking History and Geography" These two assignments will be due Monday 8-29 for Periods 1,2,3 and 5 and Tuesday 8-30 for Period 8.
